More About Anthony Turner
Clinical Interests:
I am deeply committed to working with children, families, and young adults navigating life transitions, especially those from marginalized communities or who are new to mental health services. As a Black male social worker, I understand the unique challenges faced by clients experiencing systemic barriers, stigma, and cultural differences around mental health. I strive to provide an open, affirming, and culturally sensitive space for all marginalized individuals, including LGBTQIA+ communities, to explore their experiences, build resilience, and find healing. My focus is on supporting clients through trauma, developmental challenges, and life stressors with compassion and empowerment.
Clinical Approach:
My clinical approach is grounded in Adlerian theory, which emphasizes social connectedness, encouragement, and the purposeful nature of behavior. I incorporate a person-centered framework, creating a therapeutic environment based on empathy, authenticity, and unconditional positive regard. Additionally, I am engaged in Healing-Centered Engagement, which expands traditional trauma-informed care by focusing on cultural identity, strengths, and holistic healing. This integrative approach allows me to meet clients where they are, honor their lived experiences, and support their growth in a compassionate and respectful way.
Hobbies:
In my free time, I enjoy reading and watching sports. I also love binge-watching shows with my wife of 15 years, which is a great way for us to relax and connect. When I’m not doing that, you’ll find me playing games with my rambunctious 7-year-old son, which always keeps life lively and fun.
