Clinical Interests:
“What you resist, persists. What you accept, transforms.” – Carl Jung
You can’t stop the waves, but you can learn to surf. — Joseph Goldstein
When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change. — Wayne Dyer
I became a therapist because everyone, including you, deserves a space to be heard, feel valued, and supported amidst the hard work done in therapy to move you in the direction you want to go in life. I believe change is possible, and I will hold hope for you in the event you struggle to believe it yourself. Sometimes that change may not look like the way you think it should. That’s where acceptance is helpful to then focus on what is within your control to live a life of meaning and is unique to you.
I provide individual therapy for persons aged 18+. I most often support people looking to address anxiety disorders such as Generalized Anxiety/Agoraphobia/Panic/Social Anxiety/and phobias, in addition to PTSD, depression, adjustment disorders , self-esteem and relationship concerns.
Clinical Approach:
I’ve been trained in Prolonged Exposure (PE) Therapy for PTSD and am level 1 trained in Brainspotting (BSP). In general, I use a person-centered and strength-based approach toward healing. I pull a lot from CBT and ACT concepts as well as general mindfulness strategies. Mindfulness, not so often as a “coping skill”, but a practice for relating with sensations, thoughts, urges and emotions in a more helpful way. A way in which you can sit with discomfort, take curiosity toward it, learn and apply from it what you can, and take actions toward living the life you want to live based on your values. I’m also big on learning and practicing how to be a friend to yourself, that starts with your self-talk!
If feeling ready to practice sitting with discomfort so to move in the direction you want to go, I’m here to serve as your guide and encouragement that you can do hard things.
