Clinical Approach:
I am a firm believer that everyone has their own unique journey toward healing and wellness—physically, emotionally, and spiritually. As a Certified Bilingual Provider offering services in both English and Spanish, I work with individuals navigating mental health concerns, substance use and addiction, co-occurring disorders, and the challenges that sometimes make life get really “lifey.”
Using a person-centered and trauma-informed approach, I will walk alongside you as we identify what is getting in the way of the life you want to live. My goal is to help you find or reclaim the best version of yourself while recognizing that there is no cookie-cutter approach to healing or recovery. For some, that may include the 12 Steps or faith-based recovery; for others, it may mean developing healthier coping skills, processing past experiences, improving emotional regulation, changing patterns of thinking or behavior, or simply learning how to navigate life differently.
I incorporate mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) skills and techniques, and narrative approaches to help you better understand yourself, quiet the noise, recognize your strengths, and become more intentional about the changes you want to make. Together, we can identify behaviors and patterns that may have helped you survive at one point but no longer serve you today.
I have a particular passion for working with individuals experiencing co-occurring mental health and substance use concerns, as well as individuals with cognitive and developmental disabilities. Whether substance use came first, mental health challenges led you to use substances in an attempt to quiet the pain, or substance use is not part of your story at all, I see you. Wherever you are today, I am ready to meet you there and walk alongside you as you begin the next chapter of your journey.
Populations:
Adolescents and adults; individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders; individuals with cognitive and developmental disabilities; Hispanic/Latino populations; English- and Spanish-speaking clients.
Hobbies:
Outside of work, I love anything that allows me to explore, learn, connect, or recharge. I enjoy swimming, biking, traveling, and scuba diving, as well as listening to live music and spending time with family and friends. I am endlessly curious, so you can often find me reading, learning something new, pursuing higher education, or happily disappearing down a research rabbit hole because a completely random question popped into my head and suddenly I needed to know the answer. My faith is also an important part of my life, and I value spending time talking to God and staying connected spiritually.
And, of course, I saved the best for last. One of my greatest joys is spending time cuddling and playing with my furry canine daughter, Mocha. She is the light of my life and a daily reminder that sometimes the very best therapy has four paws.
