More About Dylan Svobodny
Clinical Interests:
In my professional experiences, I have sought roles that explored how things like trauma, loss, mental health, and addictive coping strategies affect how we see ourselves and the world around us. That led me to spend time doing substance use assessments, working in a cancer center, and forensically interviewing children/adults after they experienced trauma. I hope to bring that experience to therapy in a helpful way. While doing therapy now, I work with people of all ages, treating the symptoms of prolonged sadness, anxiety, PTSD, relationship stress, and grief. Life can be so hard, and making it less painful for the people I know interests me.
Clinical Approach:
I believe therapy is a collaborative adventure. In the work, I find the phrase “be helpful, but don’t be profound about it” inspiring, and it is what I strive for. I emphasize being down-to-earth. The rules I have for myself and what you can expect from me are to be constructive, curious, and to practice professionally. Your input on sessions and the direction you’d like them to take is always welcome and appreciated.
During sessions, the core values within acceptance and commitment therapy, CBT, and psychodynamic/attachment theory would find themselves in my clinical disposition.
Hobbies:
I enjoy spending time with my family. I like most sports and competitive games. I enjoy camping, especially in the Boundary Waters and other off-grid locations, where I can disconnect from technology, connect with nature, and practice my survival skills. To relax, I enjoy practicing archery and reading old books.
