More About Heather Kunkel Schuetz
Clinical Interests:
Hi, I’m Heather, a marriage and family therapy intern currently working in outpatient therapy. I love working with a wide range of clients but am especially passionate about working with couples and families to strengthen their relationships and problem solve. If you’re a couple that’s currently struggling, know that I am very pro-relationship and will work with both of you to address your own issues while at the same time addressing the relationship dynamics between you.
In addition to couples work, my niches are separation and divorce adjustment; parenting; coparenting; blended families; and court-involved individuals and families.
I see clients age 15+ both in-office (preferable) and virtually on Wednesdays and Thursdays currently.
Clinical Approach:
I strive to create a warm, safe, and non-judgmental space where clients feel heard and supported as we work together to build healthier relationships and stronger families. I tailor my approach to your needs. Some people enjoy gaining lots of insight and understanding how their past is impacting their present. Others are looking for more solutions-oriented approaches. Your goals are my goals, and we will work together to determine how to meet them.
I am a pretty directive therapist and am active in my sessions. I am comfortable pointing out patterns and asking hard questions when I feel like it’s helpful, not just providing validation. I provide a fair amount of psychoeducation because I believe when we know better, we do better.
Hobbies:
When I’m not working, I enjoy reading, trying new restaurants, and traveling. I spend as much time as possible with my husband, daughter, two wonderful step-children, and our little dog.
