Clinical Interests:
Mood Disorders, Treatment resistant mood disorders, PTSD, TBI, ADHD, Addiction medicine, Autism, and Severe and Persistent Mental Illness.
Clinical Approach:
I believe that knowledge dispels fear. I provide a great deal of psychoeducation regarding how and why the body and brain respond the way they do to both patients and families as mental health issues rarely affect anyone in isolation. I also describe how medications and other non-medication interventions can assist individuals in becoming their most stable, functional and independent selves. I work with individuals to find the right combination of interventions for them. With an extensive background as a Psychiatric Registered Nurse, I bring valuable experience from various settings, including Geri-psych, psych-rehabilitation, acute inpatient care, outpatient services, and mental health patient education. I have also had the privilege of working with the VA and am a proud Army Veteran.
Hobbies:
Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family and animals, nurturing my garden and orchard, engaging in fibrecrafts like cross-stitch and crochet and challenging myself with word games.
