More About Jennifer Betlach
Clinical Interests:
I have primarily worked with adults, but also have some experience with youth. I have experience working with clients that are struggling with their mental health and well-being and are experiencing anxiety, depression, stress, difficulty with life transitions, difficulty in their intimate relationships, grief, and parenting stress.
Clinical Approach:
I approach therapy collaboratively and believe that you are the expert in yourself. I am here to help guide you to uncover and recognize the strengths and wisdom that you already hold within yourself. I have a holistic or bio-psycho-social-spiritual approach and look at the whole person as well as the systems in which you live and work. I work to help you to be grounded in the present moment, promote self-awareness, and feel what is happening inside your body. I use nature both metaphorically and physically to help you connect to your truest self and to help ground, calm and center yourself as I conduct nature-based therapy appointments in South Minneapolis near Lake Nokomis and Lake Hiawatha.
The therapeutic approaches I like to use are psychoeducation, mindfulness, meditation, nature-based, somatic, CBT, IFS, and ACT.
Most importantly, I strive to meet you where you are as we enter into a therapeutic relationship and work with you to set your therapy goals based on what you feel you need and what aligns with who you are, and where you want to go in therapy.
Hobbies:
In my free time, I enjoy spending time outside in nature hiking, camping, kayaking, gardening, taking my dog for a walk or just sitting outside to read, meditate or listen to the sounds that nature provides. I have two teenagers that keep me busy an an almost 100-year old house that always needs to be worked on. My life has a diverse soundtrack and I am always listening to music in my house, my car, my yard or live in person in one of the fantastic venues that Minneapolis and St. Paul offers. I have also discovered the benefits of cold water immersion and enjoy a dip in whatever cold water I can find in all of our four seasons.
