More About Olivia Schaefer
Clinical Interests:
I provide individual therapy for adults ages 18+ who are coming in to address anxiety, depression, trauma, and other life stressors. I particularly enjoy working with people to build their self-esteem, recognize their own strengths, recover from people-pleasing, and increase insight into their patterns to create meaningful change.
Clinical Approach:
My clinical approach is informal, person-centered, curious, compassionate, and collaborative. I know that you are the expert on your story. My goal is to provide a nonjudgemental, collaborative space to explore the challenges that are bringing you into therapy and support you on your journey toward healing.
I have clinical experience with a variety of modalities including IFS, ACT, CBT, DBT, somatic work, and narrative work. I enjoy finding a blend of approaches tailored to each person’s needs. I bring a systems perspective into my practice that acknowledges the ways in which societal structures such as classism, white supremacy, patriarchy, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, and other constructs influence our mental health. My hope is that by recognizing the impact of these systems we can create opportunities for healing from the trauma they inflict. I want to support my clients in living their own meaningful, authentic lives.
Hobbies:
I love to go for long walks and spend time outdoors if Wisconsin weather cooperates. You can often find me at a local bookstore or coffee shop, and when I’m at home, chances are that I am under blankets with a book, binge-watching TV, crocheting, and/or working on a puzzle.
