More About Ryan Peterson
Clinical Interests:
I am interested in working with individuals navigating a range of mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety, adjustment disorders, stress, and issues related to codependency and self-esteem. I plan to start with adults ages 20 to 50, and I am especially interested in supporting those facing life transitions, academic or career stress, and personal growth challenges. I specialized in trauma-informed care, and I have experience working with adolescents, implementing behavioral therapy strategies like Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I am always open to expanding my work across the lifespan, including children, teens, and older adults once I am more comfortable and knowledgeable throughout my internship experience.
Clinical Approach:
My goal is to create a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental space where you can be your full, authentic self. I believe that therapy should be collaborative. You are the expert on your life, and I’m here to support and guide you as you navigate your goals and challenges. I use a person-centered, strengths-based approach, integrating evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), motivational interviewing, and mindfulness approaches. Whether this is your first time in therapy or a return to the process, I will meet you where you are and work with you to explore what healing and growth mean for you. Together, we will find tools and strategies that align with your values and who you are.
Hobbies:
Slow weekends, fresh air, and home-cooked meals are some of my favorite ways to recharge. During the warmer months, you can find me tending to my garden, soaking up the sun by the pool, or enjoying long walks with my dog. Spending time in nature helps me reset. In the colder months, I love binging reality TV shows as a reminder not to take life too seriously. I also enjoy curling up with a good book, my dog cuddled up by my side.
