More About Abby Petersen
Clinical Interests:
In addition to my clinical role, I am a licensed attorney with experience in corrections. My primary clinical interests are working with clients who are involved in the criminal justice system, deviant or violent behaviors, conduct disorders, and sexual disorders. In addition to this, I also enjoy working with obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), anxiety disorders, and relational problems.
Clinical Approach:
I take a down-to-earth approach that is focused on the client and what the client wants to achieve. No one else can pick our goals for us. We are all the experts of our own experiences. I primarily draw from acceptance and commitment therapy, motivational interviewing, dialectical-behavior therapy and am always learning more theoretical approaches. I also know that what makes therapy most effective is the relationship between therapist and client, so I love blending humor, support, and partnership with everyone who comes into my office.
Hobbies:
I like Dr Pepper, reading horror books, playing The Sims, and hanging out with my cats. I’m also committed to staying at all the haunted hotels I can.
