More About Andrew Dentzau

Clinical Interests:

I work primarily with adults across numerous stages of life. I have helped those dealing with anxiety disorders, mood disorders, borderline personality disorder, trauma, as well as other problems in living or life transitions not captured by traditional diagnoses.

Clinical Approach:

My clinical approach is to develop a strong rapport that focuses on providing a nonjudgmental space where my clients feel both supported and challenged. I believe this human connection is the most important aspect to therapy and allows us to explore your authentic self and test your expression of this self in a safe environment before translating that to the ‘real world’. On top of this person-centered approach, I also utilize CBT, IFS/parts language, narrative therapy, and mindfulness/meditation to assist people in becoming the version of themselves they want to be. I want therapy to be a collaborative process where you focus on the areas of life that matter most to you.

Hobbies:

In my space time, I enjoy spending time with my wife and our dog, Gigi. I also enjoy playing a wide variety of games, such as Dungeons & Dragons/TTRPGs, board games, and Magic: The Gathering. I’m an avid lover of food and love to try new places, both in Des Moines and when traveling. I listen to a wide variety of music and believe it to be one of the best ways to soothe the soul and process emotions, or just unwind and have fun.
