More About Ashley Kockler

Clinical Interests:

Before becoming a therapist, I spent twelve plus years in Higher Education & K-12 Education supporting students and staff through personal growth, major life transitions, surviving setbacks, and encouraging the journey to personal and professional success, however that was defined by my student. Emerging adulthood comes with its own set of unique challenges, not all of which are self-determined. A lot of life can happen in a short amount of time. Although my role has changed, my passion has remained the same: helping people better understand themselves, build on their strengths, and move toward meaningful, fulfilling lives.

I specialize working with children and adults navigating anxiety, depression, grief, resilience development, trauma, and life.

Clinical Approach:

I believe therapy is most effective when clients feel safe, heard, and genuinely accepted. My goal is to create a supportive, collaborative environment where you can explore life’s challenges without fear of judgment. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, relationship concerns, or simply feeling stuck, I strive to meet you where you are and work alongside you at a pace that feels right for you.

My approach is trauma-informed, person-centered, and strengths-based. I draw from a variety of evidence-based therapeutic approaches—including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Narrative Therapy, and Internal Family Systems (IFS)-informed concepts—to tailor treatment to each individual’s unique needs and goals. I believe there is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy, and together we will find strategies that fit your experiences, values, and strengths.

I don’t believe therapy is about becoming a different person—it’s about helping you better understand yourself, build on your strengths, and create a life that feels more aligned with who you are and what matters most to you

I recognize that reaching out for therapy can feel vulnerable, and I consider it a privilege to be invited into that journey. My hope is that you leave each session feeling understood, supported, empowered, and authentically yourself as we work together toward meaningful and lasting change.

Hobbies:

I love, love, love spending time with my dog, Luca, who is a GSD/Lab mix and an absolute delight mixed with sass. She is also never satisfied with the daily treat allotment. I enjoy being with my family and friends as much as possible. I am lifelong avid reader. I am tackling my TBR list that seems to keep growing longer and I am not mad about it. My genre favorites are mysteries, psychological thrillers, political intrigue, and the occasional romance novel. Now that I am done with my formal education, I am ready to start traveling again and putting my passport to good use. I just need to pick the first destination…. I am thinking Ireland in late summer, so everything is green and gorgeous. I enjoy watching baseball and my go to team is the Washington Nationals; they break my heart every post season. I golf when the weather allows, am returning to running slowly (two marathons completed), and I would live at the pool if I could.
