More About Bethany Peterson
Clinical Interests:
I am interested in supporting clients on their mental health journey. I work with teens and adults. My teaching background has given me 20 years of experience working with 6th-12th grade. I also support family relationships and couples.
Clinical Approach:
My approach is largely guided by Alfred Adler and his school of individual psychology. This means we work through a holistic lens, healing the mind, body, and spirit. I am guided as well through a humanistic approach, incorporating strategies pulled from CBT and DBT. We sometimes use brief solutions focused therapy when appropriate. Carl Rogers in his Person Centered Therapy approach is also at the center of my practice, as I believe the client has the power within them to heal and grow in the ways that work for them. For couples, we work through the lenses of emotionally focused therapy and Gottman’s Sound House.
Hobbies:
I love winter! When I’m not working, I’m usually downhill skiing. I also dabble in piano, enjoy hiking, and kayaking the rivers around Minnesota. My partner and I also try to volunteer in our free time in an animal shelter and offer love to the kitties.
