More About Cara Chapdelaine

Clinical Interests:

I am a licensed therapist who works with children, adolescents, adults, and families through an integrative, relationship-based lens. My work is rooted in the belief that healing happens in the context of safe, trusting relationships—and that everyone deserves a life that feels meaningful and manageable.

With a strong foundation in early childhood mental health, I specialize in working with young children and their caregivers using child-centered, attachment-focused approaches. I have advanced training in Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), the DC:0–5 diagnostic framework, and TraumaPlay, allowing me to support families navigating early relational trauma, developmental concerns, and emotional or behavioral challenges. My work centers on strengthening the parent-child relationship, enhancing emotional regulation, and creating a secure foundation for lifelong growth.

Clinical Approach:

I work with adolescents and adults using Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to help clients build meaningful lives in the face of emotional pain. When appropriate, I integrate Prolonged Exposure (PE) therapy to support trauma processing in a safe and effective way.

At the heart of my practice is a deep commitment to inclusion, respect, and cultural humility. I welcome and affirm people of all identities, backgrounds, and family structures. It is my priority to create a space where every client feels safe, seen, and supported.

Whether I’m working with a young child in the playroom or supporting an adult navigating trauma or emotional dysregulation, my approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based care.

Hobbies:

I enjoy spending time with my family, walking and hiking, and exploring new restaurants.
