More About David Primeau

Clinical Interests:

David is a clinical social worker working with individuals, couples, and families.  While he’s been trained in Bowen Family Systems Theory, EMDR, and play therapy, and other therapeutic modalities, he realizes that every person’s or family’s situation is unique, and his approach to treatment will always be tailored to those sitting in his office.  David has an undergraduate degree in mathematics from the University of California, San Diego, a masters in business and finance from Indiana University, a masters in social work from the University of Iowa, and a masters certificate in data analytics also from Iowa.  He spent a career working in quantitative finance in the actuarial field, as a derivative trader, and as the quantitative risk manager for a large bank’s balance sheet.  David’s education and work experience give him a uniquely broad and well-rounded foundation for his role as a therapist. Instead of coming from a single traditional path, he integrates analytical thinking, real-world experience, and clinical training to better understand and support clients of various backgrounds.

Hobbies:

Physical and emotional health are of primary importance to David.  He’s been an athlete his whole life, including being captain of his high school swim team, a competitive surfer since his high school days (he still competes), a dancer in college, and a podium triathlete.  In addition, he is a dedicated yoga practitioner and has lectured on the relationship between yoga and mental health.  Further, David raises hostas and irises in his garden.  Lastly, David cooked professionally in San Francisco and still loves to bring homemade treats to his Sagent peeps!
