More About Emily Negi

Clinical Interests:

My clinical interests are shaped by a diverse background in education and counseling, including experience as an elementary educator, Spanish teacher, high school counselor, middle school counselor, and clinical mental health counseling intern. This background has provided me with experience working with individuals across the lifespan, from children and adolescents to adults and older adults, and has strengthened my ability to meet clients where they are developmentally and personally.

I am particularly interested in supporting clients experiencing anxiety, depression, grief and loss, life transitions, identity development, parenting and family concerns, and challenges related to relationships and emotional well-being. I have a special interest in working with historically marginalized communities, including the LGBTQ+ community, and am committed to providing affirming, inclusive, and culturally responsive care. I strive to create a therapeutic environment where clients feel safe, respected, heard, and empowered to explore their identities and experiences.

Clinical Approach:

My counseling style is collaborative, compassionate, and client-responsive. I draw from evidence-based and solution-focused approaches and have an interest in EMDR, Narrative Therapy, and Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy, adapting interventions to each client’s individual needs, strengths, developmental level, and goals. I am also interested in incorporating play-based and art-based approaches when appropriate, offering creative ways for clients to express emotions, develop insight, build coping skills, and engage meaningfully in the therapeutic process.

As a bilingual counselor fluent in English and Spanish, I value culturally responsive care and strive to build therapeutic relationships grounded in empathy, respect, trust, and authenticity. My goal is to create a safe and supportive space where clients can explore their experiences, recognize their strengths, and move toward greater self-understanding and meaningful change.

Hobbies:

Outside of counseling, I enjoy spending time with my husband and children and appreciating the quieter parts of life. Our home is also shared with a big dog and two kittens, who provide plenty of companionship and entertainment. I enjoy fiber arts and creative projects, as well as home improvement projects that give me opportunities to learn new skills and explore my creativity.

I love to travel and learn about different cultures, perspectives, and ways of life. I also have a great appreciation for humor, silliness, and the odd and unexpected things that make life interesting. I value self-care and making time to slow down and recharge. I enjoy exploring new interests, learning new things, and finding opportunities to continue growing both personally and professionally.
