More About Jan Birch

Clinical Interests:

I have a broad experience base ranging from working with youth in foster care, adults in re-entry programs, to medical case management. I work with adolescents and adults of all ages. I join with individuals to address anxiety and depression concerns, attachment issues, grief & loss, trauma, and substance use issues among others.

Clinical Approach:

My therapeutic approach blends multiple methods to aid in integrating feelings and experiences. I use somatic approaches combined with EMDR -eye movement, desensitization and reprocessing to help the mind and body organize and integrate experiences. Additionally, I utilize ACT – acceptance and commitment therapy, which teaches psychological flexibility through combining mindfulness, acceptance of uncomfortable thoughts and feelings and commitment to values based actions.

Hobbies:

In my down time I enjoy listening to the trees, running hiking and cycling. I find joy in creating art of many forms and spending time with all the dogs.
