More About Joshua Ponce
Clinical Interests:
As a Latine and queer therapist, I am passionate about working with Latine, LGBTQ+, and BIPOC individuals and creating a space where clients feel seen, supported, and empowered to show up authentically. I am well-suited to work with Latine (Spanish Speakers), LGBTQIA+ identifying people, those with PTSD, Anxiety, Depression, and those who have experienced religious trauma, and many more! I tend to draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Brain Spotting, Cultural Liberation Theory, Trauma-Focused CBT, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Ages: I am open to working with people from all ages 8 and up.
Clinical Approach:
My approach is rooted in humanistic values, meaning I believe the therapeutic relationship comes before any theory or modality. I hope to make therapy engaging, collaborative, and dynamic, helping clients reflect on their experiences while building a stronger sense of agency and confidence in their ability to create meaningful change. I focus on a culturally responsive, liberation-focused lens; I hope to support my clients in deepening self-understanding, building on their strengths, and creating lives that feel authentic and aligned with how they see themselves.
Hobbies:
In my free time, you can often find me hanging out at home, playing video games, reading books (usually manga), drawing, working on art projects, or spending time with my partner and two kitties. During the summer, I enjoy playing kickball, hiking, and meeting up with friends for trivia nights.
