More About Skylar Welle

Clinical Interests:

Previously, I have worked with teenagers and college-aged individuals who have struggled with mental health concerns including anxiety, depression, stress- related disorders, life transitions, relationship struggles, grief/loss, self-injurious behaviors, and other concerns. I am open to working with age-groups of teenagers and above as I continue to expand my experience in the mental health field. I am willing to see clients with with a variety of concerns both with or without a mental health diagnosis.

Clinical Approach:

One of the most crucial aspects of the therapeutic process lies in the relationship between the therapist and client. I strive to create a safe, welcoming environment for clients of all ages and backgrounds to begin building a foundation of trust.. I enjoy collaborating with each individual client to create a plan and goals that tailor to your concerns. Additionally, I believe that therapeutic progress comes from the individual’s own effort and participation. This in mind, my role as the therapist includes supporting you on your journey, encouraging you to explore your own identity, and assisting you with roadblocks as they come up in the process. In therapy, I like to incorporate skills and techniques in session that facilitate a trusting, calm environment for self-discovery, an opportunity for increased self-awareness, and allow you to freely speak your mind. These skills and interventions include psychoeducation, CBT techniques, mindfulness, DBT practices, and others as needed.

Hobbies:

I enjoy moving my body through activities like weightlifting, biking, hiking or yoga. Additionally, I love being outdoors whether it be a scenic walk in nature or a boat ride on the lake. In my spare time, I am most likely at the gym, reading a good book, or spending time with my friends and family! I also have an adorable dog who is a Border Collie and Labrador mix.
