More About Tony Sharp

Clinical Interests:

I enjoy working with people from all different types of backgrounds and experiences, and with all different types of diagnoses. As a part of the queer and trans community, I really feel honored working with clients also in the community. I am interested in the process of supporting and coaching clients thru de-escalation skills, finding connections in their thoughts, actions, and emotions, as well as ensuring my clients walk away from every session with a little more understanding about themself and less confusion, shame, or anxiety. My hope is to hold space that welcomes curiosity, vulnerability, partnership, and relief. Helping clients create life-long behavioral changes and systems that work for them, however that change looks, is a vital goal for me as a practitioner.

Clinical Approach:

I approach every client with an open mind and fully believe they are my partner in their treatment. I use a Strengths Based, Person Centered, Systems approach through a Humanistic and Holistic lens. I also am a strong advocate and promoter of Psychoeducation to ensure my clients understand what we are talking about, the techniques and skills we will practice, and the ins and outs of the services they receive. I also am always open to, and happy to, incorporate theory and interdisciplinary pedagogy that furthers the growth and understanding of the systems around us all for my clients.

Hobbies:

I’m always up for a movie or new comedy show, or just rewatching all of my favorites on a loop. (Shoutout to Bob’s Burgers!) I’m lucky to have supportive people in my life to spend time with, including my fiance and our furry kids, Bailey and Salem. If I’m not with them, you can probably find me going for a drive with the windows down and music up!
