More About Annalise Bernardino

Clinical Interests:

I specialize in supporting individuals and families impacted by chronic illness, including those navigating their own health challenges and family members—particularly parents and siblings—of children with chronic conditions. My work focuses on helping clients manage the emotional and psychological effects of illness, including trauma, grief, and life transitions. I am particularly interested in the ways people cope with long-term stress, adjust to changing roles, and access meaningful social support. My clinical focus also includes working with trauma survivors, helping clients build resilience and develop effective coping strategies. I am particularly interested in the intersection of trauma and health, and how experiences of adversity shape one’s ability to adjust to life changes. I emphasize the role of social support in the healing process and work collaboratively with clients to strengthen their support systems and promote long-term well-being.

Clinical Approach:

My approach to therapy is rooted in emotion-focused work, helping clients explore and make sense of their emotional experiences in a way that fosters healing and personal growth. I prioritize creating a space that feels safe, supportive, and grounded in trust—where clients feel comfortable showing up as they are. I bring authenticity into the therapeutic relationship and often incorporate humor as a way to build connection, ease tension, and highlight resilience. My goal is to walk alongside clients with compassion and curiosity as they navigate life’s challenges.

Hobbies:

When I’m not working with clients, I’m usually curled up with a book, in the gym, or binging the latest true crime documentary. I also enjoy spending time with my partner, friends, and family – either sharing a meal together, traveling, or simply catching up.
