More About Cole Schmit

Clinical Interests:

Hello fellow human! If life feels like a lot and you’re tired of saying you’re fine when you’re not, you’re not alone.

Many of the people I work with feel burned out, stuck in their heads, overwhelmed, or unsure how to move forward. In therapy, my goal is to help things feel a little lighter and more manageable. I work with children, teens, and adults dealing with ADHD, anxiety, depression, trauma related concerns, identity concerns, and big life transitions.

Clinical Approach:

My approach is collaborative, strengths based, and flexible. We’ll focus on what feels most important to you and find tools on our journey together that work for you. Depending on your needs, I pull from approaches like CBT, DBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), mindfulness, self‑regulation skills, somatic strategies, art‑based interventions, role‑playing, and play therapy.

I especially enjoy working with helpers, caregivers, and professionals in caring roles. Many of my clients are used to taking care of everyone else and don’t always have space to focus on themselves. Therapy can be a place to land, slow down, and hold space for yourself and your needs—without having to be the strong one.

When I work with children and teens, I work hard to create a space that feels comfortable, fun, real, and non‑judgmental. Therapy doesn’t have to be awkward—it can be a place to be honest, figure out why things feel so hard, and learn skills that help outside of the therapy room too. I see parent or caregiver involvement as a supportive part of the process and aim to include caregivers in ways that respect a child or teen’s independence while still offering helpful support at home.

Overall, I want therapy to feel approachable, safe, practical, and empowering—and for you to feel respected as the expert on your own life.

Hobbies:

My hobbies will vary by day but typically I enjoy spending time with family, nature walks with my dog, drinking delicious coffee, cooking, art projects, reading, playing video games, and whatever the latest project I’m working on at my house is.
