More About Heather Bowen
Clinical Interests:
I am passionate about supporting veterans, active-duty military members and their families, the LGBTQIA+ community, and individuals navigating maternal mental health concerns (including single mothers, mothers of multiples, and those experiencing pregnancy loss or perinatal/postnatal challenges). I also have a strong interest in working with individuals with cognitive and/or developmental disabilities, including but not limited to ADHD and Autism. I also have interest in working with individuals dealing with substance use concerns. I currently work primarily with adults (18+) and bring experience in facilitating chemical dependency groups and supporting clients from a wide range of backgrounds and diagnoses.
Clinical Approach:
My approach to therapy is holistic and person-centered. I utilize a blend of evidence-based interventions including solution-focused therapy, trauma-informed care, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and strength-based strategies. While I draw from a variety of techniques, I firmly believe that there is no “one-size-fits-all” method to healing. My goal is to create a supportive, nonjudgmental space where clients feel seen, heard and empowered to grow. I strive to meet clients wherever they are on their life journey and have often been described as relatable, genuine, empathetic, and realistic, while maintaining a positive and encouraging presence.
Hobbies:
When I’m not in session, I’m usually soaking up time with my husband and our seven kids. As a military family, life is full -but I love getting outside, painting, writing and curling up with a good book whenever I can.
