More About Kia Tompkins
Clinical Interests:
With over seven years of experience providing counseling support to children and adolescents in school settings, my clinical work has been shaped by a deep commitment to helping high-needs youth navigate life’s most challenging moments. I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside young people as they face complex home environments, abuse, trauma, grief, identity exploration, relationship struggles, self-harm, and suicidal thoughts.
I’m particularly drawn to working with individuals affected by adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), and I focus on helping clients build emotional regulation, resilience, and healthy coping strategies in the face of anxiety, depression, and family conflict. While I enjoy working with a wide range of clients, I’m especially passionate about supporting young children, adolescents, young adults, and women—particularly those navigating identity development, relational challenges, and transitions during the perinatal period.
Clinical Approach:
I believe that healing looks different for everyone, and there’s no one-size-fits-all path in therapy. As we build trust, I tailor my approach to support your unique experiences, needs, and goals. Rooted in a trauma-informed and with a culturally sensitive lens, I strive to create a space that feels safe, collaborative, and empowering.
Hobbies:
Outside of the therapy space, I find joy in simple, meaningful moments—soaking up the sunshine during the summer months, exploring new parks and hangout spots, and spending quality time with my family. I also love connecting with friends and believe in the power of good conversation. And no matter how hot it gets, a warm cup of coffee is my daily comfort—one of those small joys that adds calm and comfort to my day.
