More About Lizzie Slater
Clinical Interests:
Primarily, I have worked with children, young adults, and couples. I am interested in working with a variety of clients with a variety of life experiences. I have worked with clients without a formal diagnosis, as well as those with anxiety, depression, personality disorders, and Autism Spectrum Disorder. I plan to pursue expertise in working with young children and with couples specifically.
Clinical Approach:
I believe that every person is capable of change, and I am personally drawn to the Adlerian therapeutic theory. I believe that taking a holistic approach, looking at a person as a whole rather than focusing on specific symptoms or problems. I believe that seeing people not only as individuals but as a member of their community/communities can help them to achieve deeper and longer-lasting change. I believe that therapy be tailored for each individual client, and that requires me to be flexible and creative. W
I am an encouraging person, and I love to help people work towards their personal goals. I love to see clients regain their sense of self, adjust to changes, and find the social support they require to thrive. I am delighted and dedicated to being an active participant in therapeutic journeys with a variety of people.
Hobbies:
When I am not working, I love to hang out with my friends and family, and my 10-year old cat! I love to travel internationally, and I book trips spontaneously and as often as I can. I am a RYT-200 certified Yoga Teacher, and I am passionate about my yoga practice and the ways it has helped to transform my personal life. I have been an elementary school teacher for the past 12 years, and I love learning and being silly in my daily life. I am a joyful and bubbly person, and I can’t wait to share more of that in my therapy practice.
